Hyundai Elantra Touring 2011 Performance & Safety

Elantra Touring keeps its priorities straight:

Performance, great mileage and safety, together.

When you see a compact car as impressively styled as the 2011 Elantra Touring, you really hope it can perform as well as it looks. You can rest assured. Spirited and reliable, the Elantra Touring’s 2.0L, 138 hp, 16-valve DOHC, 4-cylinder Continuously Variable Valve Timing (CVVT) engine employs some of the most advanced technologies and provides maximum fuel efficiency while meeting the demands of both city and highway driving.

And that power is delivered to the road via a precise, smooth-shifting 5-speed transmission, with a 4-speed automatic available on all models.

On the safety side, to give added peace of mind, Elantra Touring comes standard with dual front airbags, with the option of front seat-mounted side-impact and rear roof-mounted side-curtain airbags on GL and GLS models.

The Elantra Touring also has an available Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD) to give you greater reliability and control in sudden braking conditions in all types of weather. And available front active head restraints and an energy-absorbing steering column work with front-seat pretensioners and force limiters for increased levels of safety.

For performance you’ll appreciate every day, and safety we hope you’ll never need to appreciate, check out the 2011 Elantra Touring for yourself.

Safety Highlights

Standard dual airbags.

All models come standard with dual front airbags. GL, GLS and GLS with Sport Package also have the added safety of standard front seat-mounted side-impact and rear roof-mounted side-curtain airbags.

The Supplemental Restraint (Airbag) System (SRS) is designed to work with the 3-point seatbelt system. The SRS deploys in certain front-end impact conditions where significant injury is likely. The SRS is not a substitute for seatbelts, which must still be worn at all times. Children under the age of 13 should be securely restrained in the rear seat. NEVER place a child seat in the front seat of a Hyundai vehicle.

Confident braking control.

The Elantra Touring GL, GLS and GLS with Sport Package come with an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD). During abrupt and hard braking, the brakes are automatically applied and released several times per second to help prevent tires from slipping due to wheel locking.

Injury-reducing head restraints.

Front-seat active head restraints are part of the safety package on the Elantra Touring GL, GLS and GLS with Sport Package. Utilizing the occupant’s weight thrust onto the backrest when the vehicle is rear-ended, the headrest automatically shifts forward, to help reduce injuries to the head and neck.
