Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. has once again been recognized as one of Canada’s Best Workplaces™ by the Great Place to Work® Institute, the leading authority on high-trust, high-performance workplace cultures. For three consecutive years, the company has been ranked among Canada’s top 50 large and multinational organizations.
The 2020 Best Workplaces™ in Canada list is based on two criteria: two-thirds of the total score comes from confidential employee survey results and the remaining third is based on an in-depth review of the organization’s culture. This offers a rigorous representation of the organization from an employee perspective, as well as an overall portrait of the workplace culture.
This year’s list received more than 400 registrations and over 80,000 employees participated in the 2020 “Best Workplaces™ in Canada” survey, rolling out to impact over 300,000 Canadian employees.
“A company’s culture is established, defined and driven by its team members. The dedication of our incredible employees across every level and department of the company is what makes Hyundai such a great place to work,” says Kirk Merrett, Director of Human Resources for Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. “We’re proud of the workplace culture we’ve fostered at Hyundai, and honoured to be recognized as one of Canada’s top employers for the third time.”
Over the past year, Hyundai has focused its corporate culture efforts on fostering open, frequent dialogue among all employees, as well as showing gratitude towards fellow co-workers and the community. This has been established through a wide variety of team member feedback and recognition programs, as well as community support initiatives that all staff are encouraged to participate in.
These initiatives have been heightened during the COVID-19 pandemic, even with almost all staff working remotely. Notably, Hyundai has introduced daily all-staff meetings to maintain open dialogue among all employees during this uncertain time, fun opportunities for staff to connect digitally on a regular basis and has partnered with local community groups to support their COVID-19 initiatives.
In March 2019, Hyundai was also recognized as one of Canada’s Best Workplaces™ for Women by Great Place to Work®, furthering the company’s position as a leader in promoting career growth for women in the automotive sector and encouraging more female representation in the field.
