The IONIQ Plug-in Hybrid offers the best of both worlds, with a larger lithium-ion polymer battery (compared to the Hybrid model) to provide up to 47 kilometres of all-electric, emissions-free driving.
With a larger battery that can be plugged in and charged in under three hours (level 2 charger), the IONIQ Plug-in Hybrid is capable of travelling up to 47 kilometres on electric power alone. Once the electric-only range is depleted, the IONIQ Plug-in Hybrid reverts to operate like the traditional IONIQ Hybrid, on a full parallel hybrid drive system.
The IONIQ Plug-in Hybrid features a 1.6L Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) engine (combined 164 horsepower, combined 195 lb-ft torque) that is paired with a larger 44.5 kW electric motor (compared to the Hybrid model) to deliver efficient cruising. A class-exclusive 6-speed EcoShift Dual Clutch Transmission further enhances efficiency and provides instant engine feedback for unparalleled responsiveness.
The IONIQ Plug-in Hybrid features a sophisticated multi-link rear suspension system with dual lower control arms, minimizing ride and handling compromises. It enables more precise tuning of key suspension components, designed to elevate on-road dynamics and feel.
This highly advanced energy management system analyzes road and route data via the standard navigation system to help make the IONIQ Plug-in Hybrid as efficient as possible. Simply pre-set your destination and ECO-DAS uses topographical information provided by the navigation system to predict changes in elevation along your route and manage battery energy usage and regeneration to complement the gasoline engine in the most efficient manner.
The drive modes have been engineered to give you an electrifying and engaging driving experience. Eco mode provides the efficiency you’d expect, while everything changes in Sport mode. The powertrain uses the electric power to boost torque levels for a totally different feeling. The digital instrument cluster even changes appearance and colour when a different drive mode is selected.
